An early morning City trip round the landmarks of one of the finest city's in Italy especially famous for its incredible food & medieval towers. We start just outside the city to the north & ride in via cycle paths to the center. After about 15 completely flat kilometres the ride take a rather brutally sudden change as we take on the steep 2km climb to the cathedral of Madonna di San Luca. This steep climb which can easily be skipped has been immortalized by the haunting image of Fiorenzo Magni racing a time trial with a broken collarbone on San Luca in the 1956 Giro.. Workout tip - take the City as a nice light warm up, raise the pace in the 2km before the San Luca climb & then go for it. Dont go too hard at the start of the climb where it seems steep remember to save something for the mid way point where you cross to the other side of the covered walk way it reaches 20% here! For those that are not so fit please adjust the difficulty slider at the top right (the cog wheels) or in the settings before you get to the climb as its rather steep directly & you cant get off a walk! Alternatively just ride the two flat City rides & avoid this citys local challenge.
